While the lemon is an excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of folic acid, ginger is documented for its many health benefits, for example to help digestion, help prevent nausea, or help fight the flu and common cold. Have a look at the article of Joe Leech, dietitian, in Authority Nutrition to learn more about the health benefits of ginger.
But most importantly, the lemon and ginger infused water is tasty!
The quantities in the recipe here make 1 to 1.5 litres.
- 3 slices of lemon, cut into halves
- Half a thumb of fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced
- Filtered water
Add the lemon and ginger to a glass bottle with a large opening, and top up with filtered water.
Infuse for 3-4 hours in the fridge (after this time, remove the lemon and ginger, and keep the infused water covered in the fridge), and enjoy!
