Homegrown Revolution (Award winning short-film 2009) by the Urban Homestead, Dervaes
This is inspiring.
The Dervaes family produces over 2,700 kilos of food in the 362 m2 garden of their home in downtown Pasadena, California.
Watch how Jules, the father, and his three children, Justin, Anais and Jordanne, grow 400 different organic varieties of vegetables, herbs, fruits, berries and edible flowers, and look after 8 chicken, 4 ducks, 2 goats and many bees in their city farm.
Many of the home appliances they use, for example the blender, are hand-powered. For the rest, electricity is produced by solar panels installed on the roof of their house. And their car is powered by diodiesel produced from free used cooking oil delivered directly to them by restaurants. This is self-sufficiency at its best!
